Salon culture has historically pushed artistic boundaries and fostered the exchange of ideas around pressing social, scientific, and political issues.
Salons are for the free exchange of stories, cogitations, and inspiration, often combined with music, art, readings from literature, or poetry.
The Events & Salon Series offered at The Plum follow in this tradition.
“I have been longing to build a vibrant community that brings together courageous conversations around the issues of our time, music, art, and ceremony with the vibe of a great dinner party. This longing only increased during the pandemic. So, I created The Plum, the perfect alchemical space for the Salon Renaissance. Join us and step into the conscious community connection we are all craving.”
– Sandra Bargman, Salon Host at The Plum
Buzz about The Plum
The Reviews are in!

"You pull-up to The Plum TH2 and immediately realize that you have arrived at a completely original and refreshing creative space. A spotless, beautifully decorated greenroom has been carefully prepared just for you. (Your filtered water rests in a crystal pitcher with a matching antique glass!) Then you enter The Plum itself for your tech rehearsal. Imagine a beautiful white couch, and tables with candles surrounded by comfortable chairs. Imagine artwork exquisitely framed on the walls, and chandeliers that hang from the ceiling. Everything is arranged for an audience to participate in intimate conversation. The carpeted stage is just the right size. The lights and sound are professional.
When you enter the space to perform, your audience has been served delicious beverages and have been introduced to each other. Community! I have never experienced anything like this. It’s more than theater. It’s more than cabaret. It’s more than a salon. It’s more than a party. It’s all. Thank you, Sandra Bargman."

"The Plum is truly a gem in the Catskills. Located just beyond the Ashokan Reservoir, any route you take to the Plum is bound to be beautiful. The space is a wonderfully reimagined garage that has been converted into a space for performance and gathering. There's enough room to host a crowd, but not so large as to lose its intimate atmosphere. During "Earth Intention: A Climate Cabaret", my experience of performing and being an audience member at The Plum was truly unique. It was just as we were getting out of covid, and there was plenty of space and air flow with the garage doors opened, and still The Plum was entirely welcoming and cozy. Sandra and Tom have created a really incredible venue for the region, and I look forward to returning!"
